Gina Trignani Kirk, R.D., L.D.N., HPC’s director for training and capacity-building, is responsible for overseeing the provision of technical assistance and capacity-building to local and statewide organizations to improve access to and utilization of evidence-based chronic disease prevention and management programs. Her role also focuses on increasing HPC’s fee for service offerings and worksite wellness programming. Ms. Kirk brings over 25 years of industry experience in community and clinical settings as a licensed, registered dietitian-nutritionist with a focus on diabetes care and management.
Prior to joining HPC in 2000, Ms. Kirk served as a clinical dietitian and diabetes research coordinator and educator at the former Medical College of Pennsylvania Hospital. She was recruited to join HPC’s growing nutrition education team at Philadelphia Department of Public Health, Ambulatory Health Services Health Centers offering the Taking Control™ Staying Healthy with Diabetes Program and providing nutrition education to underserved populations. She has also served in many other capacities for the organization, which include oversight of HPC’s technical assistance to the Office of Homeless Services’ Child and Adult Care Food Program ensuring compliance with federal meal planning regulations; implementing school health policies, including obesity prevention efforts, across three school districts in Montgomery County through WISE SNAC®; and increasing food access and quality through developing community garden and farm partnership with food pantries in the Greater North Penn region of Montgomery County through the Cultivating Communities Campaign. The latter two initiatives were funded by HealthSpark Foundation.
