The Project began in late 2013. Outcomes are forthcoming
Triumphant Living Collaborative (TLC) is a research dissemination program that educates community residents about evidence-based strategies for preventing cardiovascular disease and cancer, and the value of research in preventing and managing chronic disease. TLC focuses specifically on African American adults in the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
Through TLC, HPC and its partners increase capacity to prevent cardiovascular disease and cancer, and understand the value and role of research, at both the individual and community level. HPC and its partners reach community residents directly through full-day workshops that include education about risk factors and prevention, and a panel discussion about research. Further, HPC and partners train community-based organizations to conduct the same workshops, thereby contributing to the sustainability of initiative and continued dissemination of information in targeted communities.
In addition to disseminating research findings to community members, TLC will contribute to research through an evaluation and assessment process designed to identify the most effective way to disseminate evidence-based information to, and facilitate behavior change among, community residents.
